CSS,
an emerging technology for separating layout and content in
(X)HTML
pages, allowing for a more structured markup in hypertext documents. To learn more about
the advantages visit a brilliant (and funny)
presentation by
Bill Merikallio and Adam Pratt explaining the pitfalls of conventional,
table-based design for HTML.
In particular, CSS allows web sites not only to look
good, but to also be accessible for non-conventional user agents, such as
search machine robots (use by, e.g., Google),
PDA-based user agents, or user agents
for people with disabilities. For more information on designing accessible web pages, see

ESWC'07 - 4th European Semantic Web Conference
The vision of the Semantic Web is to enhance today's web via the exploitation of machine-processable meta data. The explicit
representation of
the semantics of data, enriched with domain theories (Ontologies), will enable a web that provides a qualitatively new
level of service.
The 4th Annual European Semantic Web Conference (ESWC 2007) will present the latest results in research and application
of Semantic Web
technologies, including knowledge mark-up languages, Semantic Web services, and ontology management.

RR'07 - First International Conference on Web Reasoning and Rule Systems
RR 2007 brings together three previously separate events: International Workshop on Principles and Practice of Semantic
Web Reasoning (PPSWR),
the International Conference on Rules and Rule Markup Languages for the Semantic Web (RuleML), and the International Workshop
on Reasoning on
the Web (RoW). This joint conference is devoted to all aspects of Semantic Web Reasoning, with an emphasis on rule-based
approaches and
languages. It welcomes both theoretical and practical works on this wide subject

ODBASE'07 - International Conference on
Ontologies, Databases, and Applications of Semantics
As in recent years, the focus of the conference lies in addressing research issues that bridge traditional boundaries
between disciplines such as
databases, artificial intelligence, networking, data extraction, or mobile computing. Also, ODBASE'07 encourages the submission
of papers that
examine the information needs of various applications, including electronic commerce, electronic government, mobile systems,
or bioinformatics.

ER'07 - 26th International Conference on
Conceptual Modeling includes SeCoGIS Workshop on Semantic
and Conceptual Issues in Geographic Information Systems
ER 2007 Conference
Homepage
There has been a dramatic impact from trends of increased processing power, storage capacity, network bandwidth, interconnectivity,
and mobility
of computing devices. As processes and interactions in this environment grow more complex, proper design becomes more
important. Conceptual
modeling continues to have a vital role in advanced information systems development, but new techniques will be required
to deal with the
challenges facing developers.
includes the
SeCoGIS Workshop:
The workshop on Semantic and Conceptual Issues for GIS combines together two successful series of workshops, Conceptual Modeling
for Geographic Information Systems (CoMoGIS), held in 2004, 2005, and 2006, and Semantic-based Geographical Information Systems
(SeBGIS), held in 2005 and 2006. The objective of joining these workshops is to focus the GIS community on a bigger event
in which semantic and conceptual aspects are discussed within a common framework.
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Date: November 5th to 9th

GEOS 2007 - 2nd International Conference on
GeoSpatial Semantics
GEOS 2007 Conference Homepage
Geospatial semantics is an emerging research theme in the domain of geographic
information systems and spatial databases. The first edition of the conference GeoS 2005,
November 29-30, 2005, Mexico City, Mexico www.geosco.org/geos2005.htm was highly
successful. We have received about 50 submissions, from which 15 regular and 4 short
articles have been published in Volume 3799 of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
People from 14 countries and 5 continents have attended GeoS 2005.
The second edition GeoS 2007 www.geosco.org aims at providing a timely forum for the
exchange of state-of-the-art research results in the areas of modeling and processing of
geospatial semantics. Geospatial semantics play an important role for next-generation
spatial databases and geographic information systems, as well as specialized geospatial web
services.
Location: Mexico City, Mexico
Date: November 29th to 30th
More Information Deadline GEOS 2007.
